Quick Charge Technology
Most modern mobile devices such as smartphones and tablets support fast charging technology, with PD and QC being the most popular. Simply put, this technology allows batteries to charge at a higher voltage.
A dedicated battery management chip communicates with the charger, determines its capabilities, and adapts to them. The higher voltage allows for a lower charging current while maintaining the same or greater power. For instance, at 5 V and 3 A, we achieve 15 W of power; at 9 V and 2 A, this power increases to 18 W, similarly at 12 V and 1.5 A.
Although the difference in power may not seem significant at first glance, it’s essential to consider the limitations of both the cable and the battery management system. The higher the amperage, the more challenging it becomes for the thin wires of the cable, its connectors, and the battery management system to handle. Thus, while a charger may output 3 A of current at 5 V, the cable and the device's battery management system will typically accept no more than 2 A, leading to a power output of around 10 W. Conversely, increasing the voltage to 9 V can yield 18 W with the same charging current, meaning the device will charge nearly twice as fast.
Due to ecological considerations, modern smartphones often come without chargers. The YATO Universal Travel Adapter is an indispensable travel companion and a high-quality fast charger that meets various testing standards, ensuring safe charging for both smartphones and tablets.
Note:
The mains voltage in most countries using types A, B, and I outlet standards differs from the European standard. The adapter does not convert 230 V mains voltage to 110 V, and devices not compatible with AC 100-250 V may not function correctly.
