Description:

The VOREL brand 81801 universal clamp meter allows you to perform basic electrical measurements. For some measurement quantities, the meter is capable of automatically selecting the range depending on the measurement result. Equipped with measuring clamps, the meter facilitates measuring AC current in a single wire using the inductive method without the need to disconnect the circuit or its power source. This method also allows for the measurement of much higher currents than conventional electric meters.


Basic Measurements:


  • AC voltage measurement: A.C. 0-450 V
  • DC voltage measurement: D.C. 0-600 V
  • Alternating current measurement: A.C. 0-400 A
  • Resistance measurement: R 0-200 kΩ
  • Diode test: IF 1 mA, UR 1 V
  • Circuit continuity test: 0-100 Ω

Measurement Accuracies:


Example of accuracy determination for AC current measurement with a result of 30 A:


  • The measurement accuracy of the VOREL 81801 meter for this range is: ±(2.5% + 10), resolution of 0.1 A
  • Measurement error calculation formula: (measurement result x 2.5%) + 10 x resolution
  • Calculation: (30 x 2.5%) + 10 x 0.1 = 0.75 + 1 = 1.75 A

Result including measurement error for the 30 A indication = 30 ± 1.75 A*


  • Result including measurement error for AC voltage measurement indication: 235 V = 235 ± 5.82 V*

Result including measurement error for DC voltage measurement indication: 12 V = 12 ± 3.144 V

*The VOREL 81801 meter does not have a true RMS measurement function, so the result is only accurate for a true sinusoidal waveform.


Built-in Functions:


  • AUTO - automatic adjustment of the measurement range. When measuring unknown values with a meter that has manual range adjustment using the knob, measurements should be taken sequentially from the largest range to the range providing the most accurate result - otherwise, there is a risk of damaging the device. In contrast, with a multimeter featuring the AUTO function, you only need to make one measurement, and the meter will automatically find the optimal range. The meter starts by default in AUTO mode.
  • DATA HOLD - keeps the currently measured value displayed.

Attention!


Current measurements with clamp meters are performed only on a single conductor, single wire. Clamping the meter on a multi-conductor cable without isolating a single conductor will display an incorrect result or indicate no current flow.
